If "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church,"

as Tertullian observed, then the Coptic Church in Egypt may expect a rich harvest, since the Coptic Church considers those killed for being Christian in the October 9 military massacre martyrs.   The actual number killed is unknown, as the military was seen disposing of bodies in the Nile.

Meanwhile, violent harassment of the Copts continues.  The Coptic Church has called on its members to fast for three days beginning today "in order to have peace in Egypt."

UPDATE: Obama administration displays the diplomatic skill which earned it the Nobel Peace Prize by calling on "all sides" to show restraint.
